How DB-WAN-Accel Works
DB-WAN-Accel has 2 components: Datacenter Compression Server (DCS) and Branch
Compression Server (BCS). DCS is installed on the datacenter and is near
to the database servers. BCS is installed on the branch offices and is near to the
database users. Usually DCS and BCS are connected through Wide Area Network (WAN).
Datacenter Compression Server (DCS)
- Caches the query results from the database servers.
- Replaces the cached results with short IDs
- Compresses the results
- Sends the compressed result to the BCS
Branch Compression Server (BCS)
- Receives the compressed result from the DCS
- Decompresses the compressed result
- Replaces the short IDs with caches
- Caches the query results
- Sends the result to the database client
