- Currently only support SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, and SQL Server 2008.
- Support for Oracle 8i, Oracle 9i, Oracle 10g, and Oracle 11g will be added in the near future.
- Support for DB2 will be added in the near future.
- Support for MySQL will be available before May 1, 2009.
- Support for PostgreSQL will added in the year of 2010.

Other requirements
Other requirements
Branch Compression Server (BCS) should be installed on a computer with fast CPUs and enough memory,
as BCS is a memory and CPU intensive application (due to the aggressive compression employed).
Actual CPU power and memory required depend on the number of concurrent connections
and their workloads.

- Launch the Branch Compression Server (BCS) "Windows Installer Package"
(BcsSetup.msi for 32-bit Bcs64Setup.msi for 64-bit).
- Click on the Next button to continue the installation.
- Read the License Agreement carefully. If you agree with it, click on the
I accept the term in the License Agreement option,
then click on the Next button to continue.
- Click on the Change button to change the Destination Folder to which you want to
install BCS or accept the default
value. Then click on the Next button to continue.
- Please enter the information of Datacenter Compression Server (DCS) being connected to, then
Click on the Next button to continue.
The installer uses those values to populate DcsServer, and DcsPort parameters
of Network section of BCS.ini.
Configure Branch Compression Server (BCS)
- Please enter the TCP port number and Branch ID of this Branch Compression Server (BCS).
This installer automatically configures the Windows firewall on this computer
to allow access to the specified port.
However, if database clients connect to this computer through network firewalls,
your must configure the firewalls accordingly. Click on the Next button to continue.
The installer uses the value of "PortNo" to populate BcsPort parameter
of BcsPort1 section of BCS.ini.
The installer uses the value of "BranchID" to populate BranchID parameter
of BcsPort1 section of BCS.ini.
Configure Branch Compression Server (BCS)
- Please enter the maximum memory for Branch Compression Server (DCS) in Mega Bytes(MB).
For 32 bit DCS, the maximum allowed memory usage is 2048 MB. There is no limitation for 64 bit DCS.
Click on the Next button to continue.
The installer uses this value to populate Metadata Cache, Row Cache, Result Cache,
and Compressed Cache sections of BCS.ini.
Configure Branch Compression Server (BCS)
- Click on the Install button to start to install Branch Compression Server (BCS).
- Branch Compression Server (BCS) has been installed and
BCS is running as a Windows Service using the specified parameters during the installtion.
Click on the Finish butto to finish the installation.
You can adjust the configuration of BCS by modifying BCS.ini.
