Trouble Shooting DB-WAN-Accel

If you cannot connect to your database servers through DB-WAN-Accel, please follow the following steps.
  1. Make sure your connection string is correct. You need to specify the host name or IP address of the Branch Compression Server (BCS) along with its port number.

  2. Make sure your firewalls allow your database application to connect to the Branch Compression Server (BCS).

  3. Make sure Datacenter Compression Server (DCS) is running.

  4. Make sure Branch Compression Server (BCS) is running.

  5. Make sure Branch Compression Server (BCS) connects to the Datacenter Compression Server (DCS) correctly.

Find out number of threads of BCS.exe. If the number of threads is greater than 12, BCS is connecting to Datacenter Compression Server (DCS) correctly and goto step 8.

Note: you can use Windows Task Manager to find out the number of threads of BCS.exe. If BCS.exe is not shown up, you can check off Show processes from all users. If Threads column is not shown up, you can use Select Columns of the View menu to select the column.

  6. Make sure DcsServer and DcsPort of Network section of the configuration file (BCS.ini) are correct.

See How to configure Branch Compression Server (BCS) for more details.

If the configuration is correct, go to the next step.

If the configuration is not correct, make the needed changes then restart "SpeedyDB BCS" service and try to connect to your database through DB-WAN-Accel again.

  7. Make sure your firewalls allow the BCS to connect to the DCS.

  8. Make sure BcsPortn section of BCS.ini is correct. Where n is a number and corresponding to the port number you used in your connection string.

See How to configure Branch Compression Server (BCS) for more details.

If the configuration is not correct, make the needed changes then restart "SpeedyDB BCS" service and try to connect to your database through DB-WAN-Accel again.

  9. Make sure your firewalls allow the DCS to connect to your database servers.

  10. Make sure Server, Port, and DatabaseType of DatabaseServern section of the configuration file (DCS.ini) are correct. Where n is a number and corresponding to BcsPortn of BCS.ini (the port number of the BCS used in the connection string).

See How to configure Datacenter Compression Server (DCS) for more details.

If the configuration is not correct, make the needed changes then restart "SpeedyDB DCS" service and try to connect to your database through DB-WAN-Accel again.
